GENERAL INFORMATION

1.       The following documents must be brought to the ride:

Ride logbook (Completed)

Horse logbook/FEI passport (completed)

(logbooks and vaccinations must be completed correctly to FEI prescriptions)

2.       The ride will be a qualifying FEI ride and be ridden under such rules.

80 km * , 109,7 km * ; 124,7 km **  distances will be registered FEI rides.

3.       Minimum age and pre-rides for a horse to participate are as per Article 816 of the FEI rules:

Under the age of 5 years - not allowed to participate

5 years the maximum distance is 80km - 90 km

6 years for CEI* and CEI**

7 years for CEI***

Mares obviously in advanced pregnancies or with foal at foot cannot be entered in any event.

Riders and horses wishing to participate in the CEI qualifying rides should have successfully completed 2 rides of distances between 40-79kms and 2 rides between 80-90kms at speeds of 16kph or under, or alternatively, successfully complete 3 rides of distances of 80-90kms at speeds of 16kph or under.

It is the rider's own responsibility to ensure that his/her horse qualifies for the distance that such a rider wants to participate in.

4.         Maximum Pulse at Vet Gates: 64bpm within 20 minutes. At final Exams, the maximum pulse shall be 64 within 30 minutes.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE THAT DISTANCES OF SOME OF THE LEGS MAY CHANGE DUE TO THE FLOW OF THE RIVER.

6.         Maximum time to vet is 20min on all legs except the last leg which has a 30min time to vet.  Holding times between legs are 45 min for all legs.

7.         There will be a Vet re-inspection for participants to be announced at the ride.

8.         Time stop for all the distances at the vet point except for the rider's last leg when the rider's time will be stopped when such rider crosses the finish line.

9.       Weight divisions for Senior riders are as follows:

No weight division, Standard weight 70kg + and Heavy weight division 95kg +

10.      Categories of riders:

Child riders: 13 years and under - children are allowed to ride on their own from the age of 12 years.

Young riders: The year in which he/she turns 14 - 21 years

No weight:  The year in which a rider turns 14 - and choose not to compete in the Young rider division;  and all senior riders who choose not to weigh.

Senior riders: The year in which a rider turns 14 - and weigh between 70 kg - 95 kg may compete in this category.

Heavy weight: -  95 kg +

11.      The minimum time limit is 10km/h except 30km(7.5km/h)

12.       All complaints tto be valid must be in writing and accompanied by a prescribed deposit.

13.       Nobody except the official vets may under any circumstances give injections to any of the horses participating in the ride. Failure to adhere to this rule will lead to immediate disqualification of the horse and rider. In the instance where a horse is referred to the treatment veterinarian, the costs incidental to the treatment has to be paid by the owner and/or rider.

14.       No horses may leave the premises after the event unless signed out by the appointed veterinarian.

15.       Horses may be ridden without shoes, but if shod they must be correctly shod and the shoes must be in a suitable condition for the competition.  No whips will be allowed.  A third party encouraging a horse to trot in the vet gate is forbidden. Riders must please ensure that horses are trained to trot without encouragement.

16.   Please take note that ALL riders and horses participating in this event, (including 30 km) must comply with all FEI rules and regulations.
