Logbooks and Vaccinations must be completed correctly to FEI prescriptions)

2.      The Ride will be a qualified FEI ride and be ridden under such rules. 160 & 120 km distances will be a registered FEI ride.
Shorter distances will be ridden under NERA rules as a “vet gate” ride.

3.      Minimum age and pre-rides for a horse to participate is as per clause 3.2.1 of the NERA constitution and is as follows:

Under the age of 4 years – not allowed to participate

5 – 6 years the maximum distance is 80km or third leg.
6 + years all categories and distances as discussed underneath:

Except for the above age and distance restriction NERA, also has a restriction on NERA and/or Namibian Horses in the sense that a horse may only participate in an 80 km ride once it had successfully completed at least 3x 60 km rides. Only after the said 3x 60 km rides a horse may participate in a ride of 80 km or the third leg of a ride. The horse must then successfully complete at least 3x 80 km rides before such a horse may participate in any longer distance or a combination of at least 1x 80 km ride and two rides not further than 120 km before it may participate in a longer ride. These ages and distance restrictions must be read together. It is the riders own responsibility to ensure that his/her horse do qualify for the distance that such a rider wants to participate in. There are however no NERA Qualifications for the foreign horses or for the Official National foreign teams, except the FEI requirements for that specific ride and in short it is that the horse must at least be 6 years old to participate and must have completed the required pre-rides.

            4.      Pulses for horses participating in rides shorter than 80 km is 56 b.p.m. after each leg. Pulses for horses participating
