NERA Ranking System For Riders and Horses.

The aim of the NERA Ranking System is to add to the professionalism of our sport, to be on par with international standards and norms and to give the necessary credit to our riders and horses.

The rules of the NERA Ranking system will be as follows:

               1. Only riders and horses that are registered with a NERA club and whose membership and affiliation fees are fully paid up and who have official NERA logbooks for riders and horses will be included in the NERA Rankings.

For any ride to qualify it has to be endorsed in the rider and / or horse’s logbook by the Organizing Committee of such a ride.

Should a rider be registered but not the horse the rider will receive his/her points but not the horses and vice versa

            2.  The rankings will be known as the NERA Rankings.

              3. The ride categories, points and scoring systems will be the official FEI /  Ambassador point system as annexed.

               4. There will be the following category for riders and horses; Children, Juniors, Seniors and Horses. Distinction between the riders will be based on age as per NERA Rules. Should a Junior rider for instance compete in a young rider- or senior ride he/ she will still receive their points as a Junior on the NERA Rankings.

Weight categories will be FEI weight categories, namely Seniors, 70 kg for 1* and 2* rides, 75 Kg for 3* and 4* rides, no weight limitations for Young Riders, Juniors or Children. Should a Senior rider not meet this weight category neither the rider nor the horse will receive any points.

There will also be, as in terms of NERA Rules, no distant limitations on Children, Juniors or Young Riders.

               5.  The period will run as from 1 January until 31 December of each year. At the end of the year the rankings of that year will come to an automatic end and a new one will start as from 1 January of the following year and all riders/horses will start with nil points/ kilometers in the following year.

               6.  The NERA permanent FEI / International Liaison official will be responsible for the NERA Rankings.

               7. Each ride will be credited with its own points and as the year progresses a Cumulative list will be updated and both the individual rides as well as the cumulative list will be forwarded to the clubs and members not later than seven days after each ride or alternatively it will be placed on the NERA Website.

               8.   Each and every ride in which a NERA registered rider /horse as in 1 above compete will be credited on the NERA Rankings for the rider / horse. It is however the responsibility of any individual rider that competes at rides outside Namibia to submit the official results of such a ride to the responsible NERA official who will also endorse such rides in the rider or horse’s logbook on behalf of NERA and only then will such a rider or horse receive credits for rides outside Namibia on the NERA Rankings.

               9.   It is the responsibility of the Organising Committee of each NERA club to submit the results of their rides to the responsible NERA Ranking official within three days after the ride.

             10. Council really want to emphasize the principle that the NERA Rankings must never encourage to a situation whereby our horses are being hurt by riders to score on the rankings system. The principle that Council would like to bring to our riders is that the well being of our horses are always paramount and that Council always want to encourage our riders to participate in the longer distances but not at speed. Please remember the saying that is speed that hurts and not necessarily distance. More points are also awarded for the longer distances.

             11. When ever shortlists are compiled by Council for Namibian National team   selection the ranking position of a rider/horse will be taken in consideration but it will be only part of all the other criteria and both the rider / horse’s position on the NERA Rankings as well as their position on any other applicable international ranking will also be considered.
